Only lack of funds slowing the move of God
Kumusta. Maayong adlaw sa tanan! (Hello. Good day to all).
The ministry in the Philippines is still going strong. Our brothers and sisters there work hard day-in and day-out to spread the Gospel of Jesus Christ throughout the island of Mindanao and also near the capital city of Manila as one of the pastors we sponsor lives there.
The move of God over in the Philippines is amazing. More and more new people are being reached with the Gospel of Jesus Christ every week. That is exciting. There are more than 11,000 people groups in the world, and more than 6,000 have never been reached with the Gospel of Jesus Christ. That’s more than 2 billion people who are unreached.
In the Philippines we are reaching those previously unreached with the Gospel of Jesus Christ. Every week we receive reports of Muslims converting to Christianity. Due to the safety of the pastors reaching them and the new converts, we are not giving their names or exact locations, but dozens of new converts are happening nearly every week.
We have helped plant three churches in a very strategic Muslim city in the Philippines. The city has a population of more than 1 million people. It is a gateway to other Muslim islands, and we have reached several of those as well. But, we need to plant many more churches in those areas.
In other areas, indigenous pastors are being encouraged and helped by LIA Philippines. We now sponsor seven indigenous pastors with $100 a month. We desperately need to increase that number as our pastors are very poor and don’t have resources.
We have purchased lots and built churches in various parts of the island of Mindanao. There are still many more we need to build.
We are helping to build a school, but are $3,000 shy of completing it. And the problem now is if we don’t come up with the $3,000 soon, the rainy season will severely damage the work we’ve helped to accomplish already.
Our indigenous pastors could reach even more people if we could purchase motorcycles for them. It’s just $1,500 per motorcycle. For an extra $500 we can add a side cart and the motorcycle is transformed into a taxi where they can transport people to church. While over there we saw six to eight people at a time on a “motorcab” as they call them. They also use the side cart like a pickup truck to haul supplies and materials.
All that’s slowing down the advancement of the kingdom of God in the Philippines is a lack of finances. By the grace of God, we have accomplished a lot in the Philippines this year, but there is so much more to accomplish for the glory of God. We need your help. Here is a list of needs if you would like to designate your tax-deductible financial gifts:
- $100/month to sponsor an indigenous pastor
- $200 to plant a house church in a Muslim area
- $1,500 for a motorcycle ($2,000 for a motorcycle and side cart)
- $3,000 to complete a school for a church that will not only provide education for children, but reach them and their families with the Gospel of Jesus Christ.)
- $1,000 a month for travel expenses to reach Muslim areas that have never been reached with the Gospel of Jesus Christ.
- $7,000 for a van to provide consistent transportation for a team to reach previously unreached areas a long distance away every week.
